After my first full year OTR I would like to switch to a local job but in a whole new state. I would be moving from the east coast to the south coast. So 12 hours away I suppose.Would a company pay for this move to hire me or would I have to pay for myself. Also will it be harder to find a job doing this?

I don't know of any company that will pay your moving expenses. South coast covers a lot of area. Be more specific on where you want to end up.

Lots of outfits offer a "sign on bonus" to experienced drivers (paid out over time) which could be considered a moving assistance benefit or to help with covering health insurance payments (COBRA) until new coverage kicks in.

For some well-qualified drivers applying to certain carriers, this bonus can be substantial and paid out in installments (as taxable wages) over about 12 months typically.

Jbhunt website lists bonus offerings alongside each open position...but...the south coast is not hard to fill. Bonuses tend to be aimed at getting folks to less desirable locals.

A moving too low cost of living areas. Texas Georgia North and South Carolina Etc. they don't have to cover my moving cost. I would just like a smooth transition as in leave my job May 5th and start working at the new company May 8th.

Tanker companies in the south Louisanna and Houston ares are always looking for drivers and the pay is pretty good. Many will take on new drivers.

One of my cousins who now works out of Dallas recently changed jobs and moved from Alabama to the Dallas area. He and his wife loaded up a one way rental truck and moved themselves. He did not tell me what he paid for the truck and I did not ask. However I get the impression it did not cost a lot. Just something to think about.

About moving, you're a driver and there are so many drivers that do the same thing you do, so no one pays for relocation,
