Dumping the air bags will reduce your ground clearance, not increase it. If you're in a situation where one wheel is spinning because the suspension is holding it up off the ground, you can sometimes dump the suspension to deflate the bag on the axles that aren't in a hole to set the one that is hovering down enough to help push you forward...but that's typically only going to happen when you're empty. As for the frameless getting you out, it's like an inch worm...raise the bed drawing the trailer to you, then use it to push the truck forward as it comes down. You CAN go the other way, too, provided you don't have the pile behind you AND you get the mud flaps up out of the way so they don't get stepped on & ripped off. A tow truck can do the same with the wheel lift...pick up the rear of the truck by pressing it down, then push the truck forward by extending it out. Raise it back up and repeat. Rollbacks can do a similar thing with the bed...tilt it all of the way up, then slide it all of the way back. It'll lift and push the rear of the truck. Then, tilt the bed down and slide the bed forward to reset for another bite.

You guys are full of tricks. Amazing how innovative you can get when your stuck and panic sets in. Lol

Back to tires. Another option is like what I do. Have 2 sets tires and rims.
I run steer tires in the summer and xds m/s for winter. Best both worlds. Steer tires work great in the summer and wear great and then your not wearing out your grip tires in the heat.

My fault, I misread your post. I was thinking height clearance like getting under a low conveyer belt/bridge/overpass or something like that.

That's a great idea. One day I'll be a high roller enough to employ such a great strategy. This is my first year in business so I'm not quite there yet. Business goals!

You don't have any issues in heavy rain or pooled water with those steers on the tandem?

Well I agree. The initial cost is higher but once you have them over all cost per mile is lower.
No problems with the steers in wet weather at all. Actually you would be surprised how well they do in all comditioms. Xza-3 steers have lots little sipes.

I've been seeing more and more people running ribs all around. I just can't seem to bring myself to do it.

All your paying extra for is the rims. As tires are tires . Your going to wear them out eventually anyway so no extra cost there.

Before I switched to wide singles I ran all rib tires all year round all over Canada and never had an issue...and got great fuel mileage. They actually handle better in the rain than a lug tire
