Whether it's your current company or a past company, I want to hear opinions of what made the best companies so good. Pay, equipment, quality of dispatch, etc...I don't care about the specific company but I want to know what qualities drew you to the company. I'm open to any and all thoughts.
If it's easier you can describe some not so ideal things you have dealt with that made an experience not so good. Thanks so much!

The best companies are non-union.
A company can be really bad, when the terminal manager hires his buddies for office work even if they are not team players; they are just there for the paycheck. The drivers pay a heavy price for this.
Be aggresive at keeping the trucks moving. It's easier to deal with being away from home, if you're earning money.JeepCJ Thanks this. -
I'm money motivated so it's equipment , bennies and pay. All of it, every penny paid to me exactly when due without excuse.
My company man days are long behind me, it's all about me now.

Closed Closed Closed on holidays and weekends. LTL trucking.
Also I love when I hear We don't have anything so just Empty Home. -
Treated as a person and not a number. Honesty even when it's not what I want to hear. Great dispatcher, safety, and fellow employees who will help you out when you need it and vice versa.

When you actually get to SEE the owner from time to time. And you can call the top management any time (like at 3am and the trailer your supposed to be running has a flat)
On the other hand, small isn't everything, it's nice to know the boss can cut a paycheck on time. -
Having a place that will get you home for something important fast. IE my wife went into labor 2 weeks early and I just went as far as I could(I was OD) and made it in time to see my daughter being born. Pay, Benefits, and nice and reliable equipment. Also when you have a problem with the truck, getting it fixed in an expediant manner.

Pay, equipment, miles, safety and how fast breakdown can get you up and running again. I agree mm 598 it does make a difference to be referred to by name and not a number.
