    Hello,
I am in the process of preparing for my CDL Skills test, and have heard that Schneider has a pretty modern simulator at the Charlotte campus. Does anyone know who I could potentially contact there in hopes of getting some training in prior to my test? I would obviously be open to offering compensation for allowing me to practice on the simulator.

My guess is they won't let you use it unless you're employed at Schneider and going thru training.

it doesnt really give any kind of real world situations or practice anyway. its used as the skid pad. steering is just like a coin op video driving game.

Yeah its like @mickeyrat said. You'll get pretty much the same training if you go and drive a car simulator at an arcade somewhere. Considering that the simulators are the OC are extremely expensive and also require a TE to be present to have you use them, I'd bet that they won't let you.

However, if you really want to ask, you can always try calling the fuel desk and asking to be transferred to the training department. Their phone number is 704-599-7575 (hopefully it's not against forum rules to post that)

Only thing the simulator is really gonna teach you is not to swerve for deer into an incoming cop car. Honestly I couldn't shift that stupid thing for the life of me. It was so bad I thought for sure i'd be the bane of my instructor's existence. Then I got in the real truck and didn't miss a shift.

Fight for more time behind the wheel at whatever school you're at or find a pay by the hour school for practice. The simulator is fine I guess for the intro to snub braking and steer tire blowout but I certainly wouldn't spend my money to use one. I think you'd be rather disappointed in your purchase.

When I used it 2 1/2 years ago, it was in dire need of a tune up.
