Dont think I will be in that area til 4/6 or the 7th as I am starting in S.A. headed south, then northwest. Let me know what your doing, and where and I'll call you on that beer. Im renting a small SUV for the week so if worse comes to worse I can always catch some zzzzzz's in the back

San Antonio has plenty of hotels. Stay away from the river walk area, way too expensive.
If you are going down towards Laredo you'll be sleeping in your car, any hotels or RV parks have been booked for months/years.
Are you just going around knocking on doors hoping to find a job with out researching on the internet and calling first ??? -

Got a lead in Odessa. I answered a craigslist Ad and they called back within a couple of hours. It seems they don't want to hire anyone unless they have accomodation already in the area. Thats a bit of a gamble for me. Anyhow it was 4on 2 off deal 12 hr shift. personally I'm looking for 3 week/1 week kinda thing

Try to seek out motels that have truck parking.
Then go to the front desk, and ask if they have "trucker's discounts". You will be asked to show your CDL.
many times I have gotten a room for $19.95 per night, when the "regular price" was either $29.95 or $39.95.
There is a minimum the motel desk clerk MUST get to pay for the room, any over that minimum is a profit for them. Many times, the front desk clerk just needs to show occupancy to the owner of the motel. -
as discussed in pm's and our emails but for "cheap place to stay" the best first place to look is State Parks & I can look up the State Park Commission as I know what to look for as I live here but for what we are discussing most of them will be full, next is road-side rest area(s) as they have been beefing those up and sleeping in one is like where you live then it is sleep in cab if possible or ask employer in advance in a letter if there is any field-housing or showers or if they have an area that a tent would not bother them
often for someone who can get a trailer of some kind some companies will let one set up the trailer near the yard for calling in if nine one one is needed ~ after that it is cheap motels which there are not a lot of in an oil-frackwater tanker-driver employment
