Now that is smart! I hate sliding tandems. You push back against your locked trailer brakes to free em up and go too far, then have to pull ahead. You've got the solution here bro. Thanks.

Yes definitely good to have first aid kit. If not for your own personal use, you may end up in a situation where someone else will need it.

Another good thing to have is your winter survival kit. This is basically a survival kit comprised of everything you would need to survive in the event you get stuck or break down in the winter time and have to fend for yourself for a few days. Stuff like bottled water, flashlight, candles, emergency food, first aid kit, a bag or two of ice melt etc... Also don't forget to stash some cash. Probably $100 or so will do. Many times the power will be out at these truck stops during winter storms and when the power is out ATM's do not work and neither do cash registers or debit/credit machines. I have had this happen more than a few times! If you take medication/prescriptions be sure to stock up extra. You want to do so anyway whether winter or summer just because in this industry its hard to just whip into a Walgreens when you need a refill!

It's not hard to whip into a Walmart for your perscriptions - if nothing else you can find some temporary parking back near their loading docks. Their computers are linked so it's very easy to transfer your perscriptions to the store you're at to get them refilled.

If your refr tanks runs dry, or you get stuck with a trailer that someone let run dry or have heard stories of how long it takes to use that little pump to siphon fuel all the way from the tank up to the motor.

And you have an air hose with a spray nozzle attachment, there is usually a vent on the top of the fuel tank. After filling the tank, remove the fuel line at the motor and blow air into the vent. It will push fuel through the line. It gets messy, but can save about a thousand pumps of that little pump.

I use a pair of vice grips to hold the release arm out when sliding tandems.
