    WoW.

You got me there. Six less on the entitlement roles, I guess that is a good thing...

...unless their women at home are collecting while they're out and about running cheap freight...

Man I feel duped now. I took a load coming back from Sycaluga,AL for like 1.30 a mile. Ugh. oh well. It was a Friday night and late, so all is well that ends well. At least it was a dry load and not a reefer load.

Is there really drivers who have holes in the floor for releif purpose's?
Well made it home empty last PM, sucks but at least I don't have a early mon. AM delivery.

  6. Yes. A couple of years ago, I had put my tractor in the shop to have some things done and was waiting on Scatterpillar to send me some parts, so I was trying to rent a Penske tractor to keep running. The guy at the rental desk told me he didn't have any sleeper tractors for rent, only day cabs that day. Clearly, there was a Columbia Condo parked right near the gate. "What's wrong with that one?," I wanted to know. He told me, "TRUST ME, you DON'T want that one!"

He explained to me that it had been rented out to a group of guys who ran as a three member team. They were from a part of the world where they use their left hands to wipe themselves. There was a bucket in the truck and a hole in the floor they had knocked out with a hammer and punch it looked like and put a funnel into. He explained that these three had the truck for two and a half weeks, and when they brought it back, it was so disgusting inside that three of the yard guys said they'd quit before they drove it one inch. The inside smelled like an outhouse. There was dried fecal material on the side of one of the cabinets in the back where they had wiped their hands after using their hands to wipe. I'd never heard of a culture where this was common place, but he told me that is was common. Anyway, he said the truck was waiting on an inspection from someone further up the chain and maybe an insurance guy. At that time, he didn't know yet what they were going to do with the truck.

Oh, and it was NOT guys wearing turbans. It was another group from that part of the world. I didn't see any of that myself, but the guy at the rental desk was almost ready to vomit as he was telling me about it.

I told him that I was sorry, but guess I was going to Ryder, and he said that he would, too.

How and the he'll did people like that rent a truck.......

  8. All you need is an authority to put it under, and a 5K deposit, I think. The company I'm leased to has an account and it's never been a big deal. Just show them a license and driver her away. there's another company around here local that runs a lot of rentals, and they have two guys renting and shuttling trucks around. Penske never actually sees the guys who drive them. It could've been something like that, too, I guess.

Any which way, I might not have believed the guy had I not seen his physical reaction as he was telling me about it.

Penske requires you to have a min insurance coverage of at least one million $$. That's it. Then all the maint and fueling costs are included. It's about $89 per day.:yes2557:

It's a truck rental. Wer'e not buying stock here. All you need is, that one million insurance coverage. I've leased with penske before on a streight truck. You have any questions on that...I can answer them. It's similar to a car rental but the ins rates are much higher. You have to have that truck covered bumper to bumper. Everything else is covered in your rental fee.
