Looking down the road at the upcoming regulations what is the cheapest way to become compliant?
I don't run the truck every day some times it sits for weeks and then runs hard for a little while. I would prefer something I could own vs something with monthly fees or subscription services. It is just me and the one truck.
One option I saw was the VDO. It looks like it may fit the bill but wondering what other options there are.

Wait for the full law to be published so you can be compliant. Check twice, buy once.
Yes I know you said down the road, but why learn about systems that could be incapable of being compliant.
Waste of time in my opinion.pattyj and Straight Stacks Thank this. -
Pretty good advice. I guess I was just kind of worried about their being a run on these devices. I mean how many tens of thousands of trucks are going to need these things when the law kicks in. It is going to be like trying to buy that special Christmas toy that is sold out everywhere. The vast majority of people are going to wait until the last possible second to get one. I don't want to be caught without one and be unable to run legally.Blackshack46 Thanks this.

I agree and see your point. I do believe and someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but the two year compliance window is in effect so the law will have to follow soon.
I do not think the regulations/law will be published the day before the deadline. Everybody would just say F it. But I have not heard any time frame as far as what is to be expected with the elogs. -
Cheapest ELOG device ? a 99' or older truck!

Your phone .
Keep truckin app free -
Don't you need more the one truck to have to even worry about it?
-
I have it and it works good but it doesn't meet the requirements. To satisfy the new mandate it must interface with the trucks ECM.Scalemaster and rabbiporkchop Thank this.

The law applies to everyone unless truck is 99 or older or those not required to log due to local exemptions. Doesn't matter if you have one truck or one thousand.

You have quite a bit of time so I would start saving like $50.00 a week.I'm thinken even the cheapest elog device isn't that cheap.
