My grandad lived and trucked for a living all of his life. He never could even back a boat down a boat ramp, and he loved to fish.
Kind of funny really though, and we would not think of it these days. He was basically an owner op but always had flatbed straight trucks, and bought and sold instead of hauling for hire. He would buy in one part of the country, watermelons, cantaloupes. whatever that part of the world had to offer and drive to where it was not readily available, then buy a load of what ever was available there or close and go somewhere else. He also never had a sleeper, either slept across the seat or under the truck. whole different ball game back then.
