You'll be fine on hard stops as long as you don't have the axle lifted with too much weight. Over time you'll find out where it likes to ride. On my step deck spread axle once I get up around 15,000 Ibs on just the one axle it's time to have them both on the road. I usually just pick it up for tolls in that situation.

Had some minor scuffing on the trip back home Friday. About 50 miles into the trip I decided to set it back down to keep from screwing up my tires.

Braking will make it drop closer to the ground but there are no flat spotting problems from that thank goodness although I will have to be conscious of braking on pavement or concrete that is uneven surface or it could.

This was a 6,000 lb load. When I go over a bridge and hit the joint in the road that is uneven it makes the air ride bounce up and down and my tires are barely touching.

Some slight scuffing. Almost like I could air the tires down on the front axle and it would stop. It isn't much but I don't care for it. I'm guessing another 1/2" of height with that axle off the ground would eliminate the problem as lightly as it is scuffing.

When I first got the trailer home (from the factory several weeks ago) I thought the ride height looked too high, just by the appearance of the air bags, so I adjusted it down an inch or more. I'm going to adjust it back up tomorrow and tape measure it to be sure not over 13'6".

Reasonably sure this will cure my issue. Will know for sure after delivery Monday morning.

i would think that the axle would come higher off the ground, is it possible to make the axle come higher off the ground, maybe an adjusmnt of something?

Depends. Just going to adjust the level valve first. If that works it's the easiest. The pusher air bags can also be shimmed to get it to raise the axle up higher. But, if the axle is already against the bump stops in the up position then shimming will gain nothing. A 2 position level valve was also suggested to me. When the axles are both down it is at one ride height. When the one axle is switched up the ride height automatically goes up a little higher to get more clearance. Just have to be conscious of the 13'6" height with that box and make sure I'm not too high.

just from the looks of it i don't think that shimming your lift bags would raise your axle any higher. it looks like the same style bag as the lift bags on my pusher and mine extend quite a bit more in the lifted position. if your not on the bump stops id check and see what kind of air pressure you are getting to your lift bags it takes roughly 50psi before mine will lift all the way off the ground. if you are on the bump stops you may be able to shave some rubber off off of them or find some lower profile stops.

Rollin coal,a simple way to raise a suspension is to put a small short stroke airpiston on the rod going to the airlevelvalve.
The stroke off the small piston should be equal to the height you want to raise your suspension.

Not sure if this was ever covered earlier but did you pay cash in full for the trailer? Was Great Dane offering any finance terms?

It'a paid for. With good credit you ought to be able to score 5-6% on 3 or 4 years at your local bank or credit union.

Unless rates have went up, with good credit you could get below 5% at a local bank.

Yeah somebody told me about 4% rates but I still say all cash in is the only way to go.
