Took this last year on one of my deliveries. Yes, the trailer is really under that wing. I had to drive past this to deliver the goods. Man that plane was BIG!!!!!!

Why would your tarmac escort bring you under the wing when there was plenty of room? I've had a close call with a 747 wing myself thanks to crappy escort. When I deliver to airports, I'm on the tarmac about 60% of the time.

I'd have to look three times before I drove under something like that. :)

Last person that drove under a wing like that when I was managing operations like that never drove on the airport again ( they were briefed beforehand proper approach procedures ) and the escort/marshaller was terminated. BIG NO GO AREA. With ANY type of equipment. I've seen more than one wing damaged or flaps ripped off doing it that way. You know that's a huge fuel tank right over your head, right?

Was thinking the same thing. All that room and he goes under the wing? It doesn't make any sense to me.

Well how else could he get a cool picture to post and brag about, I mean how cool would it be if the truck was parked along the fence linewith a plane a mile away. :)

guys, lighten up. This was where the barely speaking Polish escort wanted me to go. What you cant see is a bunch of stuff to the left of the plane towards the front blocking. I REALLY did not want to go under that plane and checked out the overhead before passing under that plane, SEVERAL TIMES!!

    keepntruckin Thanks this.

    lighten up he says......not likely.

as someone who was entrusted with the safety of the aircraft, and aircrew, and people on the ground once the aircraft was in the air in my previous career, my view is that stunt is unacceptable under ANY circumstances. the entire management staff of that facility should be terminated for allowing that to happen.

as a still commercially licensed pilot, and someone who still flies most every weekend, i would freak if that happened on any aircraft i was going to fly.

things can and do get kinda tight when working around aircraft, but anything that was 'blocking' the proper lane should have been moved ebfore they allowed you to approach from the proper and accepted lanes....which are pretty industry standard when trucks are working around aircraft. there were so many accepted and safe best practices violated here it's not even funny.

i don't expect any of you who have never been behind of the controls of an aircraft to understand how stupid that is. no matter how 'cool' it looks. i guess some of us are just used to operating at a higher level of performance.
