They have a shrink wrap tubing with glue inside. I’ve used the new type thin solder no crimp style connectors. I like them. Make a mechanical connection by hooking and twisting the wires, splitting strands 2-3 ways and twisting them back. Nice inline splice. Slide whole connector over it. Shrink it till you see solder melt. I’ve been using liquid tape, over the whole thing, then shrink tubing over it all. Heavy duty. Good if needed. My Ignition solenoid wires are prone to corrosion. Fixed them that way, using heavy duty eyelets. Never corrode again. Other times, I just twist wires and tape. Lol. It depends on time. Important things are done right. Usually!

The only time I use connectors is when I have to put a pin or terminal on the end of a wire or Iam going 2 wires into 1 wire.. other wise it's spread slide strands into each other and solder then heat shrink like you do.. I don't much like those butt connectors even when soldered

This is on my To-Do list also. I have a set of step boxes I need to put on as well. You have grates for the steps?

Look real good till one of your kids hops up on the step with a stone in her shoe and then twists her foot getting in the truck and scratches the living #### out of it. Ask me how I know

Well I don't have any of those to do that, the drivers side is already pretty scratched up by me.
