    I think that's what they're called...

I'm actually trying to find out about the lights that truckers will blink back at you when you flash them that it's safe to get in front when they pass. These are not connected to the headlights (thus turning off and on head/brake lights) are they?

I would like to put something similar (I guess in my case they'd have to be removable) on my four-wheeler so that I can "thank" rigs when they flash me over, like they do when I flash them over. The only way I know of at the moment is to tap brakes but I won't do that since it is not safe for me or the rig so I wanted something I could put on a toggle and light them up then turn them back off.

I hope I'm making sense...does anyone have suggestions for putting these lights on? What type of light I could legally put on? Difficulty of wiring?

Thanks in advance for the help :)

Would be hard on a car. Trucks are pre-wired and switched from the factory to provide this "functionality". Today's newer cars would be very difficult to re-wire at the various points required to allow this.

Well darn...it is a newer car, 2008. I wouldn't necessarily care if it were something I didn't have to wire in...as long as it worked. Maybe something battery (not car batt) powered. Thinking...thinking...

Just let your hazard lights flash about 3 times. Thats what some trucks do that dont have that option, like mine. Lol!

    +1 on what poneill said.

The other option is to install your own interrupt switch. It's nothing but a simple spring loaded switch that is normally closed. Then you would have to find the wire to the parking lights and install that switch on it. Radio Shack, Amazon, Ebay and I even think home centers sell them.

If your interested in trying that I can tell you which wire with the year, make and model.

It includes drilling a hole in the dash, cutting a wire in two and attaching it to the switch. Then you stick the switch through your hole you drilled and put the nut on.

They would definitely think you are a trucker. :)

Condo, out of curiosity, I would like to know which wire...just in case I decide to do it instead of using flashers.
I have a 2008 Pt Cruiser. I know, it doesn't exactly say Trucker's wife, but with my new bumper sticker it will! :biggrin_255:
