I stay out 5-6 weeks and then come home for a full week. My off week I typically get no or just a little paycheck. my employer will catch it up on the next check automatically. even if they didn't, it all washes out at some point. I can keep track of it on the states website...online. shows payments made etc.. I can also see the deduction out of my paycheck stub.

that child support system is so stupid, almost impossible to make sense of it.

For all the talk of EQUALITY these days, if they really MEANT IT, then custody in divorce could automatically be 50/50 with no support unless of course there were other circumstances that would disqualify a parent. Problem is if they did that it would wreck their funding stream for the court and attorneys.

The way it usually goes makes it look like dad took off dumped everyone......My exwife still trys to play this card lmao.

His recalculates with every job and then we can modify due to circumstances. Its just how does the variable income come into play? I guess Im gonna have to call the state and I dont want to deal with them yet until he knows the company is going to keep him on.

From my understanding, however limited the current standing order that he is already paying will remain in effect until a new order is issued. So his child(ren)'s mother or he could request a near order/hearing or over time it will change. I will warn you not to be behind on child support if you go to California. California can and will shut you down out of service for back child support even from a different state. I know a driver that had to go rescue another driver because CA shut him down. They drove the truck into AZ and turned it back over the the rescued driver. Not sure how far behind said driver was. I do not have first hand child support experience.

Make sure the EMPLOYER submits their payments to whatever agency they are withholding $ for on time , know a few drivers over the years that were hassled for failure to pay but it was the company that failed to submit the payments

I don't know but ask my ex-wife. If anyone knows, she does. She's trying to get child support now, despite the fact that the babies are 24 and 21.

I like How as an employer it becomes my responsibility to make peoples child support payments. Its my backside on the line also if it gets messed up. But heck Indiana says I can charge a whopping $2.00 for administration fees.

in return you may get some free employee retention points... it plays a part in my employment status and plans for sure. when i'm done in a few years that will no longer be a factor. and lol, wisconsin gets $1.00 admin fee x 52 weeks...

For what its worth and I know not all situations are the same. We separated on a friendly basis. It was determined and agreed on a set amount which would provide for the needs of the child, any extra was discretionary.

That said the amount was reasonable because she wanted to leave the state which NY would never allow. NY is typically 18% of income. We both decided even a lower set amount was better than variable as it could be counted on and we both knew what to expect. We were very lucky in that we were able to work out much of the details without court involvement. Again most situations are not like that.

Never ever pay direct to the mother if you have an order to pay through the courts. It will come back to haunt you. I'm paying my support the second time since my ex has questionable ethics.
