Does anyone know how child support orders work in trucking? What I mean is if I have a child support order in one state, live in another and work for a company in another state, who enforces that order?? Also, what happens if for a week you dont make enough to cover the payment??

thats an easy one,the state in which the order came from enforces it, wouldn't worry if you are short for one week just make it up the next, but if it gets to be every week they will come after you, and with the economy today they will make you wish you living on another planet.

Well I live in Nevada and the order is out of Arizona but Nevada enforces it now, they are payroll deducted, thats why I was wondering what happened if I didnt make enough in a week...........It has never happened but I have never asked either...

If you can add an extra $10-20 a week that could help to cover short weeks as it's paid to the state and the state pays it to you ex. Talk to the DCS or whoever the money goes to and ask if you can do that. Getting canned because you're in paupers prison because you missed a few child support payments isn't helpful to maintaining a job! Or getting a new one either!

now my friend that is a touchy subject. the state where the order was issued enforces the order but all states will enforce it, if you get behind its up to the judge, he can lock you up, he can take yout cdl, or both and he can order you to take another job, strickly up to him. like the man said they can make you wish you lived on another planet.
they can realy be rough i wouldnt push it you will lose every time.

    good luck to you.----southernpride

Having delt with support on both sides of the issue, I would NOT send in extra money every week, it wont go into an account to be added to a short week. I WOULD get an account set up so you can tuck away a few bucks everyweek thats easy to get to like with a debit card, that way you could possibly call the place that collects the support and pay them over the phone or on line,. At least in our state anyways.

ALso, getting behind is a pain to deal with however there are certain amounts you have to be behind before they will take action against your CDL or other property and I think it varies from state to state, so check with yours. My ex brother in law was just brought back to our state last year from NEW YORK by our Friend of the COurt and it cost him 4,500 to get out of jail and back home along with a lot of requirements to meet...he was 28,000 behind. On the other hand my sister got behind 660.00 once and they jerked her license.....its tricky for sure.
