I used to take my boy to work everyday on the Parasail boat from the time he was 2.

The kid had the life.


He was very social. Made friends with everyone.

At the age of 4 my dad paid to put him in a private preschool.

He hated it , I had to bribe him into going to school from 9-12 and than I would pick him up and take him to the beach for the day.

My dad owned a strip mall I managed that had a Kid Care in it.

Man I don’t know who I felt more sorry for the kids or the parents that had to deal with that chaos.

3 years apart in age. Same thing as you, because of trucking my mom was home with us. Didn't go back to work until i was in middle school part time. My dad did the local O/O grind and worked a lot of long days so he could be home with us. Even if just for 2-3 hours before passing out. Did Binghamton to NYC running steel for 10 years.

He did it for the union bennies. Local 282. I forget how cheap he said it was but it wasn't much for the family one.

If i ever have a kid i don't want them going and being raised by someone at daycare that just throws them in front of a tv all day.

On a side note, my mom got paid to bring us to the bus stop everyday. Car contractor, she didn't have any other kids to pick up, just us. Our school district was the largest sq mi wise in the county so we had to drive 6 miles to the bus stop. Would of costed the school more to send someone else over 18 miles from school. So technically my mom did work

 

The way a family is supposed to grow up.

I was 1 of 8 kids. 3 up 5 down were my call letters.

Small pa town 15 miles south of Binghamton NY. Half my friends in school had parents that were split up or mom/dad out of the picture
