I know. A billion is a lot of money, but for some companies, it's pocket change.

Have a feeling a few of you have not read this. This has zero to do with trucking. You agree to the price and except it, not skimming. They had a set agreement with farmers and did not honor it. Two different ball games. The had a elaborate setup to complete this. While I think they are scum of the brokers, they ain't skimming, when you except there low ball price.

Note, this is not directed at anyone specific.

Yeah, kinda like Pilot skimming/ not paying back fuel rebates a few years back. These massive companies don't care about Farmers or Truckers they just see a Massive cash cow

Then blame a few select employees, which they can insure themselves against. Then claim they didnt represent the values of CH Robinsom and fire them as a disciplinary action. Drag it out 10 years in court and pay pennies on the dollar against claim. Insurance company will negotiate a settlement. They will just come up with the next cheat.

Except, vicarious liability comes into play here. Didn't something very similar happen to Mercer recently?

But yeah, it'll likely get reduced....

I would like to point out to everyone this,

The shippers(the farmers) recognize that they were not getting a fair deal and even felt that the broker CHR was taking advantage of them.

The shippers decided to do something about the brokers

Everyone is in business to make money. Alot of farmers lost this concept when the government started pumping them cash.
    Too much rain ,,,bad
    Not enough rain...bad
When the subsidies don't pay enough sue. They would sue the trucking companies if they thought any money was there, but they know better than that. It's why they knew full well what Robinson was doing. I don't see the problem. Just looking for a handout, and future government regulation to move their produce on the cheap.
