You gotta put some of the blame on your load planners and dispatchers too for that one bro. That will happen from time to time and it's not always the brokers fault or your peoples. Some times shippers double book freight too

How could someone on my end know if someone on their end double booked something?...I can't see how that's possible...

What I meant was maybe your load planner dropped the ball on getting the load set up and the shipper booked it out again. When I drove fro Celadon this happened alot of times.

I finally found out that our load planners would sit on loads until the last possible window to make the deadlines and then dispatch someone on it.

But then again it could have been a screw up in the load numbers they gave you too ( they being the broker)...these things happen all the time...sometimes it really kills you and then you learn to let it roll off after a bit. We've all been there and done that and not just with CHR either man.

Oh and after I had been shot at in Philly the weekend dispatchers at Celadon sent me a load that had been picked up two days before by another Celadon driver. I got that jackweed fired for that one once my fleet manager found out what had transpired

I can't count the times CHR will set a load up with the company and then when the driver calls to get dispatched, they secretly try to put an extra drop or pickup on the truck. I then contact dispatch and they are mad because they knew nothing of it.

Our company uses them to relocate a truck to a better area on occasion. Most experiences are average to bad. They still owe me $100 detention for a beer load back in June. I rather not deal with them. I dealt with different brokers all the time running produce. None were as bad as CHR's methods of deception.

I am curious as to whether you called the shipper about the load before you arrived? No matter whom I get a load from I ALWAYS call the shipper before I leave my location for directions and to check details about the load. I also check with the consignee once I am loaded. It can save some misunderstandings. No business relationship will be without some conflict from time to time. If you keep the lines to communication open it can avoid a lot of difficulties.

If that happens CH Robinson will usually add more money to the load. They won't usually pay detention unless the shipper or consignee agrees to pay it. You also need to make sure that you document your time and put it on the bills. The shipper or consignee should initial the arrival and departure times on the bill of lading. By documenting everything on your bills and staying in touch with the individual or office where who gave you the load it will maximize the possibility of getting additional compensation. Having a problem with a one individual at a company doesn't mean that everyone with the company is the same way.

Yes, I called as I was only 20 miles away and wanted to know if I could pick up early, THEY said no to the early but told me to bring trailer and drop it...Then once I did that, someone else at the shipper, when I called back to let them know what number the trailer was, told me the bad news...Some of the miscommunication came from the shipper as the one took my load number(and company I worked for) and said yes, bring trailer, the 2nd said that load was assigned to someone else...

And I too ALWAYS, as I was taught, call ahead for directions, dock instructions(if available) and since I'm usually early to make sure that's ok too...Things happen and I still got a load out of it but it did put me in the middle of a storm I could have avoided had all went as originally planned(I know, I know, that is not something to expect on many occasions)...

I have had very few times when I have had to be paid for a TONU from CH Robinson or any other broker, for that matter. Things happen when you are in business. I have a good friend of mine who runs his authority pulling a van. He uses CH Robinson exclusively. He is doing well with them. Any relationship, whether business or personal, will have some bumps along the way. You just need to learn how to handle them. You can't allow them to get you down. ALL businesses have ups and downs. ALL businesses have problems from time to time. If you want a job that never has anything happen, then you need to find something else to do for a living. There are always problems in trucking. It is a matter of how we deal with them. If you have had a lot of problems with loads it may be a particular individual or something else. I don't condemn an entire company because of a few problems with one office or individual.
