Yep! Learned all about it from my dad.

It is an amazing glass cleaner also, just add a little corn starch.

Are you by any chance idling truck overnight??? I’ve driven two cascadias that dpf leaked and fumes entered cab . I won’t drive a dpf truck without using a carbon monoxide detector. Probably not your issue but putting it out there in case..

Sorry, TSP sucks now. The government fixed it like they fixed gas cans for us. Like the government removing vents and flexible spouts from gas cans they also insisted that TSP no longer contain the P or phosphates. Plus It ABSOLUTELY WOULD NOT be good to start wiping down a trucks interior with that. You do realize the original tsp etches surfaces for painting don't you? I cant speak for Semi manufacturers but having worked for one of the worlds largest automotive interior systems manufacturers, specifically the Chevy Suburban/Tahoe and GMC Denali. Parts are certainly tougher but their finishes aren't.

Those carpet cleaners absolutely suck UNLESS you get lucky and use a products/shampoo with it that chemically neutralizes the offending substance. JoeTruck suggested a pet/urine stain remover and Odoban available at WalMart is one of the best!

    Robot or human?

Now if you went to a professional detailer they use machines like this: Amazon.com : Mytee Carpet Extractor
And that's a whole other beast that does a darn fine job. Very hot water+agitation & suction is the key apparently. If you're ever in the Springfield Missouri area i can suggest a guy? I'm sure a semi would set you back $500 or so but if you cant do it yourself and want it done right.......... Get your rigged wrapped, detailed maybe some of those spinning center do hickeys?

As others suggested. Focus on your heating and cooling systems more than anything, once that stank gets in there good luck! I had a loaded 2000 Mercury Sable i leased. Loved that car. Ford in their infinite wisdom didn't drain the condensate pan/cooling system properly so by mid summer it smelled like fish. Good friend is a Ford Master Tech and i saw the service bulletin. Secure a douche' and poor down the front air intake cowel with the blower running, stop and let sit for 15 minutes, rinse & repeat.

    Man, as an ex-smoker i pray i don't get a smokers truck!

whenever i'd get such a truck, Simple Green in full strength did the job.

use cloth shop towels not paper towels as those will rip apart very easily.

if it had "tucked" upholstery, you'll have to get inside each "tucked" pleat for deep cleaning.

if you can access the heater \ac box, remove the cover and blow out the dust and crud in there, and spray Febreeze...

do this BEFORE you actually start cleaning

but time is or may not be on your side, especially if you get onto a load.

you'll have to "piece meal" the cleaning over time.

    Rental places might have those??

If so. I’d get it Friday and run it all weekend but smoke is almost impossible to eliminate but you should be able to get it bearable

    Or
    Just start smoking

It takes about a weekend to a week to get the smoke smell gone. You have to clean EVERY surface of the interior. This includes glass, floors, dash, all plastic AND EVERY FABRIC surface. Any surface you don't clean will retain smoke until the truck is scrapped. I usually used windex on all interior glass, plastic, and floors. Don't JUST soak them. Spray with windex or simple green, wipe them dry. Then soak every surface with Fabreeze and let it soak as long as you can. I would typically spray and wipe down ALL surfaces on a Friday. Then soak everything in Fabreeze, make everything wet with Fabreeze, and let it sit until Sunday night or Monday am. Then clean everything with Windex again. DON'T FORGET THE HEADLINERS, SEATS, MATTRESS, BACK SLEEPER WALL, SUN VISORS FRONT/BACK, EVERY SURFACE. Airing it out will not be enough even if you keep it for 50 years. Every surface has to get saturated by a cleaner, wiped down and then saturated with Fabreeze.

I've brought a couple of smocker trucks back to the land of the breathing. With a thorough cleaning and liberal use of Fabreeze. Most people forget to clean/Fabreeze the floors, ceilings, windows, headliners, seats, andcsleeper walls/roof. Any surface you don't clean and then soak in Fabreeze will smell of smoke for the next 100 years. Don't waste money with little 12 volt plug-in ozone doo-dads. They produce an insignificant amount of ozone, just enough to irritate your nose & throat. The industrial ozone machines used by car dealerships will work, but good luck getting one of those.
