Never mind. I see you still had full ones left. You didn't "Forget" to "Throw them away". You weren't going to throw away full beer bottles. You forgot to HIDE them.

So what exactly did you have in your cab? Just unopened cans, empties, or both?TX2Day, Crude Truckin' and austinmike Thank this. -
I had both. But like I said no alcohol was in my system. The Officer gave me a breathalyser is was 0.00. The open and full cans were from a few days earlier. I had no alcohol consumption for a good 24 hours before departure. I just forgot to toss it all away before driving.
Crude Truckin', tscottme, austinmike and 2 others Thank this. -
I know that this citation is a issue. However, it's not a DUI. I am just wondering from the experienced drivers. How likely am I to finding a driving job at this point?
austinmike and blairandgretchen Thank this. -
Times/situations change.
When I was with J.T. Garrard we had a senior driver (about 55), accident free, not a speeding hand, sort of anticlimax running with him. You got there when you got there, and usually at a reasonable time.
Had two peculiarities; never took bennies. and rolled with a fifth of whiskey embedded in his moving pad/army blanket on the RH seat (day cabs). Actual last name unknown, but was always referred to a "S".
S would leave out and drive, stop to check cattle, eat, restroom, traffic jam, steaming steady. But, when he was feeling sleepy, reach over, thumb out the cork and take a sip.....Plug it up, and roll on. Drive your eyes out and never seemed to be affected by it.
Now, afore the correctors come on, a couple of things. I can count on one hand the number of bennies I took over 7 years of running harder miles than exist today. Old roads, old type equipment, old law enforcement. I have run with him and had to stop to nap, and S would say.. Think I'll just go on awhile... Some of the boys with large RX bottles and a few lose "Black Molly's" tried him and were found wanting after a few hundred miles...
Do not/did not condone, nor ever try. But I would have put my wife and kids in a cab with S and not have been concerned. -
You come Chicago, we stock Volvo fridge for you

I don’t mean to sound harsh, scratch that yes I do.
How many times over the years has this topic been brought on TTR?
You doubtly violated your(then) company policy regarding alcohol, even unopened alcohol in THEIR TRUCKS.
How did the officer see the partly opened 12 pack? Did the officer climb into the cab, and take a tour?
You were stupid enough to not put it in the fridge?
When I got my CDL decades ago, I basically became a tea-totaler. Absolutely no alcohol unless I was in my own home. No drinks at parties, weddings, etc., unless the venue was attached to a hotel and I had a room.Last edited by a moderator: Sep 8, 2024
