I am a new COMBO driver in a DAYCAB I am trying to make perfect sense of HOS

11 hour rule, from what I understand, I cannot drive over 11 hours in a 24 hour period.

14 hour rule - I don't really understand. I know I can't work over 14 hours in a day, but where are the lines drawn on a 14 hour day

Company says I am authorized one 16 hour day per week... I couldn't find that in fmcsa book

As a combo driver, I work the docks and drive. On a normal night, I go in at 9pm, work the docks for a few hours, hook up my set of doubles, and then drive. My trips are 5 to 9 hours depending where I go. I get back to my terminal, post trip, and go home.

14 hours meaning 3 hours to load unload fuel then after 3 hours it cuts into your 11

Ok, so load time 3 hours, drive time 11 hours. After that, I can no longer operate a CMV but I can remain on duty for as long as needed. I can restart after 10 hours off duty

After 14 you're a volunteer. Mark your book as off duty.

Not if you're not driving. A person can still work beyond the 14 hr point.

Really? And for how long? There just has to be ten hours off duty before you climb back in the seat? Just no driving after 14?

Young man as long as you are in 100 miles of your home terminal don't cross state lines and don't get pulled over you can do whatever you want there is a 16 hour rule and I've worked 20 hour shifts but I haven't been pulled over in 4 years so I don't care I drive the speed limit and always do my pre trip and always underweight
