    Hello,
I have done a lot of research on the topic, including purchasing the air brake and Prof. Drivers Manual, and it all has so far said the same regarding requirements. I was told by a coworker whos pops went for his Class one a while back and apparently one of the needs for it was Gr. 12.
This contradicts every bit of reaserch on the topic I've so far done, but I figure the best clarification could come from someone currently in the industry.

Thank you for taking time to read this, its much appreciated. Any info at all will be helpful

    safe travels

As TheHealthyDriver already mentioned, no, grade 12 isn't required for the license. A company that hires drivers might have that as a minimum requirement though.

If that was true how are all the in-bred Hutterites getting licenses then? They can barely count to 12 let alone go to and pass grade 12!

You do not need a grade 12. All you need to do is pass your written tests and road test. Do not get your license from a big company like Bison, or what ever. If you do, then they will own you for the next 2 years. And I mean own you!
Go to a good driving school with one on one instructors. You will be free to work for any company after that. An no one will own you.

BTW you can put down that you have a grade 12 on the app. No one will ever check. But be honest with the rest, cause they do check that.

Thank you all very much for your information, its very appreciated. As for the gr. 12, I do have ways of obtaining it if needbe, but from everything I've found its very possible to get into the industry without it. As for the inbreds lol, in the short time I've been here in MB I've heard A LOT of stories about them, and they're pretty far to even to me, and I come from a small town in Alberta lol
About Bison and the bigger companies, do they do the training system similar to the US mega carriers like Swift, PAM or Werner? I've read a lot of the horror stories and such about them, and just wondering if it's the same with the big companies here in canada? Because while I'm eager and won't have any big obligations, I would like to avoid being owned by someone.
Again thank you all for the info.

Canadian fleets don't do free training as Canadian Labor law prohibits people being slaves.

According to a pamplet from manitoba public insurance there is programs in place from a few companies i believe reimer/bison but dont quote me on it as i haven't seen it in a few months where they paid for class 1 driver training and provided employment with the company provided you agree to stay on with the company for x amount of years. If you leave before that you are stuck with full reimbursment of your driver training.
