I ran in and helped at the RMR a few years back in the early '80s... always wanted to do more rallys, but the call of the pavement and two wheels was louder.

First day out training.. I'm in a Western Star - Training went well... I've -never- driven a truck like this.. total greenhorn..

Spent 3 1/2 hours today driving it around rural roads - learning how to double clutch shift and float.. ground the gears a few times of course, completely missed gears - trainer said I have lots of promise tho and wants to put me on a trailer tomorrow after a couple refresher runs.

We're supposed to get snow here tonight - so this will be fun.

Anyways.. here is the truck.. I'll have this one and the same instructor all the way through.

Lol - I'm sure I put about 5 years worth of wear onto the transmission today - I rabbit jumped, dumped the clutch a few times, ground the gears and missed a few - without a syncro its a whole different world in a truck than a car - but in the end it moved forward.. made it from 1-6 and back from 6-1 - all in all a successful day :D

Lol don't worry, they have some more tractors :D there are 2 decent shape KW's sitting beside the WWS - a few more on the other side of the yard.. I won't break it too much for you, and if anything that old bus is available.

Have you got your class 1 learners and airbrakes yet?

Can't get airbrakes locally till the 7th of November that's why I can't start sooner. Got the learners a while ago.
