not true.
RV's have used non side to side movable 5th wheel hitches from day one. And still do. The side to side TILTING is a opinion.
If side to side TILTING was required to keep the 5ht wheel pin from getting tore up SEMI's would have them.

Some RV 5th wheel hitches have articulating heads that can pivot side to side and even up and down on it's own suspension system. This is just for ride comfort and to take stress off the trailer's frame. HD 5th wheels generally only pivot forward and backwards.

Hauled campers for about 6 month and the company that I pulled for would not allow a fixed wheel. They claim that steel arm coming down to the king pin cannot take the force of the twisting. I have two 20 k rv hitches both move freely side to side one is reese the other a pull rite slider. You all can do what ever you want but you might do some checking around.
