I live in NC, I have a 6 months otr in an auto under my belt. Anyways does anyone know if I could get the manual restriction taken off of my Class A cdl by using a Class B vehicle. I have a buddy that's willing to let me use his Dump Truck . Any help would be awesome.

This has come up before. As I recall you have to take the driving test again in a class A truck with a manual transmission.
buddyd157, UsualSuspect, x1Heavy and 1 other person Thank this. -
Nope. That's the problem with most restrictions on the CDL. One has to start over from scratch. And one will get a CDL with new restrictions based on the new vehicle being tested with. (Air brakes, 5th wheel, Class B, etc.)

Retake test in Class A with manual as SteveScott says.
it is very common for states to slap restrictions against manual trucks on testers who take the CDL with only a Auto at the DMV.jdh42892 Thanks this. -
Thanks Everyone, that's what I figured.

Where in NC? I know some local O/Os in the RDU area who might be able and willing to help.

You would think cdls are federally mandated. Ca doesn't have any restrictions ironically
