Hmmmm decision, do i want to make 500 a week for 6 weeks for training when the first 2 weeks is only training. and then after that you re teaming by saving the company money for 4 weeks paying the student a flat rate for teaming with his trainer. Then after u solo out u get a whopping 25 cents a mile. And if u take more than 2 days off regardless of how long u stayed out. u have to turn your truck in because swift has such a huge turnover rate.

Or do you want to work for a smaller company making 350 a week for training. with no minium on how long u have to be on the truck and can be solo after 2-3 weeks and make 30 cents a mile to start off which is more than 100 a week difference to the 25 cents a mile swift offers u.

More than a yr ago when i was in school swift came in 500 a week wow sounds good

    Werner has apus even better

May no recruiters came in heard bout em word of mouth, and happy i chose them 90% of the people i went to school with are out of the industry now due to working with werner and swift. i do believe you dont look at the training pay of a company to decide where u want to work at. Every company has weakeness and strengths its all on what fits u.

    Trucker Steve Thanks this.

The earlier your in a truck the better it is for your bank act... although if you train longer and master your skills everyone around you is much safer as is your career.

really i dont see a difference in mays program and swifts. You re both training for 2 weeks and then after 2 weeks the trainer is sleeping while you re driving with swift. We all know u learn more when you re on the own. The main purpose of training is to teach the new hire the companies policy and logging or qualcomm depending on who you work with. You already have a license so you know the basics the trainer is just there to sharpen up your skills in that period and not eveyone is 2 weeks it all depends on your skill set.

Yes, but you should be confident and have the ability to run passes on your own before the trainer cuts you loose ( passes like siskiyou, grapevine, cabbage etc) I couldnt imagine being all alone and have never ran the pass in bad weather, without proper training. I know there is a lot of companys that could care less but they should.

Now Joker...do you really want to compare Swift's turnover against May's turnover ratio? :)

Both are like a revolving door. One of the management folks at May told me their turnover rate is 140%. Don't imagine Swift's is any better.

To tell you the truth, it doesnt matter what either turnover rate is. All i know is that may keeps me rolling. That keeps me happy and thats what matters in my opinion. "the greatest benefit a company can offer to an employee is happiness" and im happy and you cant make everyone happy and not everyone will. But i am:biggrin_255:
