I realized today that in spite of my telling the DDS worker that I wanted to take the test for the Class A permit, it's showing "Class BP" on my permit. Does anyone know why they issued me the Class B permit instead? I took the General Knowledge exam, which was 50 questions and the Airbrakes exam, which 25 questions. Will I have to take the exams again and get my Class A permit before I'm able to get my Class A CDL? I'm in Georgia.

I'm sorry. I believe my question belongs in the Trucking Regulations forum.

The answer is simple my friend....you did not take the "Combinations" test.
General Knowledge
Air Brakes
Combination Vehicle
Those are the three minimum tests for a Class A (atleast in Iowa). -
-
Yep. Not to beat a dead horse but you have to take the combination test as well.

Thanks for the responses. I hate to have to go back, as last time, I had to wait 3 1/2 hours at the DDS (or DMV) before I was administered my test. I'll probably just wait until I start CDL school. Anyway, thanks, again!

So; your school requires you to take the written test on your own...and THEN come to school?
-
No, but I just wanted to get it out of the way, since you're supposed to pass it your first week of school, anyway.

I understand the excitement....but dude, don't pay twice for something you only need once. Take a breath.
