Hehe
I know you guys are giggling at my title. But its true. Ive been working at a defense contractor for 2 years as a executive driver. The job is going to end soon, unfortunately. I have a Class B license with air brake, tanker, hazmat and passenger endorsements. I figure some guys here make deliveries at military bases, government agencies etc. Do you ever come across jobs that require security clearances? I checked a couple places on line like clearancejobs.com with no luck. It seems like they require some kind special military knowledge or I.T I did find a couple of bus driving jobs at a couple military bases that paid 22 or 23 dollars an hour but I didn't get any responses. Any help appreciated..

Which state do you live in?
You really need to upgrade that Class-B to Class-A.
Upgrade how ever you think best. You can also attend a private cdl school to upgrade. I think there's one in Victoria, Texas that specializes placing students to oil field tanker jobs.
Stevens Transport has cdl school and tanker division in the Texas oil fields.
FFE (Frozen Food Express) has the same as Stevens Transport.

I'm in CDL School with a guy who holds a top secret clearance. From the military. He was an IT guy. He's actually doing this partially for fun. He's bored. Wants to do something.
He is considering DOE. Department of Energy. Transporting nuclear materials. Requires his top secret clearance. Says it pays up the wazoo. Then there's DOD? -
WesternPlains Thanks this.

I live in Missouri. If I cant luck out with my class b, i'll probably have to upgrade to A. Been looking around for cheap community colleges. Found a couple down in Alabama.Chinatown Thanks this. -
@RoadRooster - didn't you attend a community college cdl program near Joplin? -

I may be mistaken, but I think I read Trailiner Corp. in Springfield uses a community college to train their new drivers.

I think you might do well at a company called pantech or spelling error of that name. They decommission nuclear weapons and process, transport nuclear material down to a gram. Nothing moves without oversight and they certainly have transport to a variety of places. They are in texas and somewhat hard to get to. You will know you are in the right spot when you see the pair of Gerties which are huge concrete structures under which bombs are taken apart that minimizes nuclear detonation.
As far as dealing with federal installations, you will need to comply with the real ID Act of 2020 in which you must have a enhanced CDL or DL to enter any federal installation including courthouses or board flights. All others who do not upgrade will be excluded.
The super duper secret clearances etc is something you will find has little value in the trucking industry and to sit in a truck stop talking about it is a way to make yourself a target. Generally it's a tiny sector of trucking that is used for ghost moves for the Government but it's such a tiny part of it. Everything else is military.
I don't hold a #### thing myself, have no interest in doing so. But it wont be the first time Ive moved trailers knowing nothing about them for Uncle Sam. I usually try not to over think it or wonder too much.NavigatorWife Thanks this.
