At 19 years old, you'll be limited to what type of jobs you can get. Insurance reason I believe. But if you're looking to get started in the trucking industry, you might want to try some non CDL positions first before you come of age. Try looking into furniture companies driving straight trucks. Or possibly look into package delivery like UPS, FedEx Express and USPS. All 3 are very good paying jobs and they promote from within...meaning you can move up to a tractor trailer position. UPS Parcel and FedEx Express...you can move up from package delivery driver and be trained to drive a semi. USPS...they have a Class B position called an MVO (Motor Vehicle Operator) and you can be trained in-house to become a Class A TTO (Tractor Trailer Operator). All 3 are VERY GOOD paying jobs. You just have to put in your dues first...but at your age, it seems you have plenty of time.

You can also look into bread and chips companies like Frito Lay and Bimbo Bakeries and become a RSR (Route Sales Rep) and drive a non CDL bread truck. They also make good money. I know a couple Bimbo Bakeries RSR sales driver making over 100k + with free healthcare and pension. But it won't gain you any experience if you're goal is become a Class A driver.

    Good luck.

Try to find a freight company that runs both straight trucks and semis, you might be able to work something out to aquire a Class A.

You might try calling Frontier Transport in Pomona, they were recently offering to train people with class A licenses but no experience, after the training they have them run day trips inside California one drop and back.
