Okay, here's the back story. I drive for a company and couldn't stand being solo and didn't want to team with someone i didn't know. I quit the company. A friend of mine called and asked if i wanted to team with him. Same company as before. I called and they said they would not re hire me because i had 4 preventable accidents. Ummmmm no. If i had that many i would have been Ford lol. I did have one. Fired, not Ford lol...sry on my cell phone and its not letting me click whee i need to fix.e

Anywho, i have orientation starting Monday with another carrier. .my dac, mvr, and psp are all showing clean. On my application i am and will be totally honest about the accident i had. My question is: when the employment verification comes into play am i going to be screwed? I have a company as backup that i know will hire me but the one i have orientation with I'd rather go with. I'm freaking out. The dac says dates and that employment was satisfactory.

Go to your Monday orientation with the company you prefer. No need to freak out since you have a backup plan. Don't volunteer information that isn't asked for.

Okay, thanks...appreciate it. I'm just not sure how the employment verification stuff goes and if my last company is going to be an ahole and tell them things that didn't happen. It's not better to put the 1 accident I do have on there?

What type of accident did you have. Most companies allow 1 preventable accident. Last thing you need is for this company to reject you, because if they do because of something you didn't put on your app. They will put on the DAC that you falsified the application. But if you know for sure you only had 1 accident, and this includes incidents where you might of tore up some power lines or hit a stop sign etc. Companies do report those as accident just fyi.

It was definitely a preventable accident. I don't dispute that...was at one of those truck stops in WV made for a 48ft trailer and totally hit the front of a truck while backing...broke their sight mirror...that was my fault and it was preventable, I don't dispute that. However, it has not been put on my DAC and that was back in March. I'll put that down just b/c I'd feel dishonest if I didn't and that would make me feel bad lol.

I'm just worried the old company is going to say x,y,z to the new company...

in general, companies are leery of saying more that "would/would not rehire", as there could be legal repercussions. for instance...if your old company told xyz to the new company and it prevented you from being hired or caused termination, they could be sued. if yz were not true, you would be a fool NOT to sue them.
you could, if you have some experience with how the calls go, call the former employer yourself and pose as a prospective employer looking for info, and see what they say to you.

Well, that orientation didn't go well. I was there up until the last day. The employment verification came through as me having 3 accidents. 2 preventable and 1 non-preventable. Have to try to figure out where to go from here...
