    Hey yall,

I have been trying to get a trucking job, all my records are spotless but when companies call my previous employer to verify my employment they tell them i was in a rear end accedent. I was NOT fired for it because it was so minor but i did quit and go to another job about one month later. They tell them that i quit but also mention the accedent. And companies dont want me what can i do about this cause its not even on any of my records.

Where is your location? Which state do you live in; maybe we can help you find another job ASAP.

First off theyre not supposed to say anything but yes you worked there, the amount of time and did you get fired. That's it. That's grounds for a lawsuit.. If your dac and mvr and csa is clean you're good to go anywhere you want

Don’t use them as a reference. If they don’t subscribe to HireRight and there’s nothing on your PSP about them then use some other company; a small one that went out of business. Listen, you’re 2/3 of the way already in terms of getting hired. You said everything’s spotless. This is a drivers market right now. One monkey don’t stop no show. Lots of companies will allow up to three accidents within 7 years, you just have one.

Absolutely not true. Please don't post if you don't know what you're talking about.

That's an urban legend. A company can say anything they want to say as long as it's true. Sure most companies have policies for employment dates, but it's just that. A policy.

Here is just one site explaining it. There are tons more.

employers are free to tell a prospective new employer anything, as long as it is the truth. however, in many instances, all they usually say is dates of employment, and what type of employment (ie driving).

otherwise, it's an old wives tall you are spreading.

when you fill out ANY more applications, jot down the accident, and whether or not police was involved, towed vehicles, or injuries.

just because it is not in your DMV, or DAC, does not mean it is not in your personal file. since you quit, just jot down, "reason for leaving questions", as "wanted a better paying job, with more benefits, or more hometime".

if you left with out a 2 week notice, explain that too, like, "the job i was going to, decided to take me sooner, and i had to leave right away, but when i did this, they ended up hiring someone else"

Not to mention that Federal regulations REQUIRE certain safety related events to be passed along when an inquiry is received from a prospective employer with reference to a CDL holder's application.
