How many years have you been hauling cars? Every car hauler I know including myself asks other car-haulers many things. Is there anything low that way, how do you get in and out of that dealer, where are the good hotels to stay going that way. These are just a few of the questions I have heard many times. Yes it is part of ones job to know things and maybe that’s why he was asking. If you really think an atlas is going to tell us everything we need to know, you are mistaken. I still carry an atlas as I used it exclusively for 25 years before I got a GPS 8 years ago.

That’s why I asked. So I WOULD know, not top a car and cause all sorts of trouble on a busy stretch of road. That’s what a good truck driver/carhauler does. If all you’ve got are ######## remarks then I suggest you go back and hide under your rock. ####ing troll.

Here is the best idea anyone can give you. Run legal, if you can't get it legal make them change the load, cheaper in the long run.

If you are not in the carhaul industry you probably don’t understand his question completely. If you haul cars up East or Chicago you will understand completely. Legal in Ky and many other states is 14 feet but what the atlas won’t tell you about is the 13’8 tree limb or overpass when you get off to fuel on a particular route. An experienced carhauler that runs that area will tell you to go to the next exit and avoid that tree limb by coming in from another direction or don’t fuel at that Loves unless you are southbound. Which could be one reason for the OP to ask his question on a Carhaulers forum. If you are pulling a 13’6 van you won’t worry about that tree limb but that 14 ft carhauler will definitely worry about it. Both of you may be completely legal but will have totally different concerns on the same road.

While I agree with your statement, I'm sure you have friends at your company or a company cheat sheet with this kind of information. I believe it's ridiculous to ask anon people on the internet. Cause everything on the internet is true? Also what are you going to do, wait 2 days for a valid response? Seriously? WOW this industry has hit a new low.

Many of us know each other and I saw his post when he originally made it. Since I am not familiar with that stretch of road I didn’t respond to it. I did post when you made a reply that was absolutely no help to anybody. That often is what trucking has come to in the general trucking world but fortunately in the small carhauler world we still help each other.

I think with my 25 years of hauling cars I'm qualified to make that statement.
