Was just wondering what clip board / organizer you guys are using or to stay away from. I will be starting my trucking carrer part time driving for a local company so I will be sliding in and out of trucks... I was looking at a metal clip board to take with me to keep my logs, other paper work, ruler and calculator. I seen a nice metal one with slide out calculator tray.

Wonderd what everyone else was using.

If you want to be a super trucker go ahead and get that one. If you go to Wal-Mart they have cheaper options.

Walmart. $15 for this one. Does every thing you ever need it for.

Umm.. What do you need a slide out calculator tray for?

I like the metal box type clip boards without a slide out tray, they take falling from the driver position quite well. The storage is nice for a log book, spare pen, straight edge, scratch paper, etc.

This is the same one I use. Holds everything you need and can take a beating without tearing up.

Sure sign of a newbie - a fancy clipboard and calculator.

Do what the pros do. Roll, fold, or crumple that log book up and stuff it in your rear pocket. Take the bills and manifest, crumple it up to make up for the lack of volume and stuff it in the other pocket.

Remove said items from the pocket on occasion and mop up the spilled coffee, catsup, and ranch that a truck driver runs into. Reinsert in pocket and let simmer. Only then said documents will be properly prepared to present to a DOT bear or office staff.

That was same thing I was looking at getting... One of them online had a tray that slid out with calculator

As for as needing it.. Hell I don't know just didn't know if it was must have.. If them 15 dollar ones from walmart is what everyone is using or thinks is best I like that option too!

Call me noob I don't care. Just like to keep my paper work clean and organized. Looks pretty un-professional the way you described. Goes for trucking or any other business really.

My phone has a calculator. My brain can calculate.
Seriously. Why not just take a couple of folders and a notebook for the first week. Then you will have a better idea of what the needs are, specific to your job and quirks. One type clipboard doesn't work for everyone
