Got a 2005 cat c15 acert, Temp would immediately start going up even when I was empty when I would climb Hill, Everthing seem normal couldn't find anything. So last weekend I decided to power wash the crankcase filter because the new one cost like $90. Don't worry its not made out of paper. After cleaning it I noticed temperature rising problem has gone away and does not get hot now
clogged crank case filter cause it to run hot

How many miles on your CAT?
When was your, radiator or thermostats changed?
Was it inframed? -
rad is about 3 years old
therm changed about 2 years ago
coolant flush last summer
no inframe -
How's the,oil pressure?
Does it,drink oil??
Any overhead done? -
Never heard of that happening before. Most cases if the crankcase filter plugs up it will pop the oil fill plug or dipstick. Worst case scenario it will blow out the front or rear crank seal.

always added a half a gallon after 8k miles, if I run heavy and a lot of mountains it takes a gallon.
