I imagine since it was a brokered load the carrier I pulled for didn't care. They may have honestly not known though that the shipper would do that when they booked the load to begin with.

Smart carriers get details ironed out in writing before problems happen. No problem? Great. No issue. However, detention is probably the most common problem ever so not making contingencies for it is foolish.

I find it hard to believe they didn't have it worked out. I'm willing to bet they did and they got paid for it. They just didn't give you any of it. Why would you agree to sit there for free?

Blaming the shipper seems wrong to me. The carrier had to know the pick involved a trailer drop.

Eh, I don't know. Nobody said I sat for free. You don't know what went on when I left that carrier. So, you're just another person with an opinion. I saw the freight bill. There wasn't any detention on it, though. Doesn't matter. I got paid in the end. Much more than they thought they would pay and that is all I can say about that.

I'm only going by what you wrote in your own words in your first post. You clearly mentioned to didn't get paid a dime for detention.

Blaming the shipper is wrong when it was your carrier that burnt you. Shippers and receivers that drag their feet is easy money for carriers that don't give away their services for free.

And that is your issue. You read only the first post. The carrier thought they burnt me, but as I said, I got paid. So, there is that.

None of that changes the fact that it isn't the shippers fault you got burnt. It's your fault you got burnt on paper. I'm glad you ultimately got what you wanted but it's still not the shippers fault.

Yeah, you have your opinion and I have mine. Thanks, though. When you see the rate con, freight bill, etc. (I imagine you don't know what that looks like if you're a company driver) and nobody ever paid any detention on it, well, then it isn't the carriers fault, either. They may or may not have communicated anything to the broker of that load. I don't know if they did or not and frankly now I don't care. But the wait at the shipper is entirely the shippers fault. Don't book trucks you aren't ready for. Or if you do book the truck, make sure you aren't taking 9 hours to load it. Simple as that.

I'm not a company driver. I was a motor carrier for several years. You're extremely ignorant of the business and it shows. The fact you think the customer is going to change their business operations to accommodate the transportation provider proves this. They are the customers. You're not running a business. You're nothing more than a glorified company driver who's blaming everyone else for his own ignorance of the industry. Actually, I don't believe you even own a truck.

You believe what you want. You are the one who chose to read one single post, you swear a shipper taking 9 hours to load isn't their fault, etc. Thanks again and have a great day.
