Bearing preload, then back off etc etc, yeah, i know, im delightfully lucky, had an axle surgeon do one of my axles, so i needed the 4 3/8" 8 point AND the 4" 6 point, lucky me...
Closing up shop, or thinking about it?

When I did my wheel seals, three of them were regular 4" Axilock, and the last one was the 4 3/8" you have pictured above. You think maybe that's an Axle Surgeon situation too, or maybe just bad luck? I had to make my own socket because I didn't want to drive all the way back to town.InTooDeep, Rideandrepair, Oxbow and 1 other person Thank this.

On the spindle, axle surgeons info is printed on the center top, it should have been obvious when you cleaned spindle
i should have checked but didnt, thread may be interchangeable and therefore if the tab washer or something was messed up they just grabbed what was available, gotta say i like the 2 peice big 4 3/8 with the internal locking washer, no question of "did i bend the tabs out or not?" Its in there, or it isntRideandrepair and God prefers Diesels Thank this. -
Okay, my spindles all looked the same. I don't know what an Axle Surgeon repair actually looks like.Rideandrepair and Oxbow Thank this.

More recent is what they look like

Did look it up though, supposedly the stemco pro-torque fits the old 2 nut 2 washer style. Personally i may buy 3 more of those just so everythings the same and i only need 1 socket.
Other advantage of the protorque is deeper thread engagement
and the socket while it doesnt stay on the nut, it bites better since its deeperRideandrepair, Oxbow and God prefers Diesels Thank this. -

I love it, just had a bad tangle with the law this year. Been inspected in scales 7 times the last 3 months. 4 of those was in the same scale. Gets discouraging!
Rideandrepair and JoeyJunk Thank this. -
You or your company are on somebody's S-list. Getting pulled in that often, especially on the same scales is nothing short of harassment.
Your boss should be on the phone to somebody and if he doesn't know a somebody he better find one.
You said in your other post that all they found was a leaking air pot. Is that the only thing you've been written up for?God prefers Diesels, Rideandrepair, Siinman and 1 other person Thank this. -
They got me for reverse light out, and another time the thin rubber rain guard inside my steer wheel well was barely touching the tire at full lock. Just dumb stuff man. I get the air leaks, I’m not making excuses at all. I actually got pulled in 3x to be inspected within 5 days. 1 of those times the inspector let me roll on because I told him I’d just been in there 2 days prior. Never seen anything like this, it’s fkn scaryGod prefers Diesels, LtlAnonymous, Chieftains and 4 others Thank this.
