Local dairy place with their own fleet. Tankers & Refers.

I've applied twice, 1st time no response and the 2nd a few years later I pursued another company and left them hanging.

Wife says I should at least try with them again (I think she wants the employee discount on milk, the kid & I go through multiple gallons a week of the stuff)

Anyone here know much about them? Strike that, anyone here ever worked for them? I know their a dairy hauler and I see their rigs all over my territory, I wanna know pay, hours & how do they treat their drivers.

    Union or not?
    Hourly, milage or "other"?

Well this is an old thread and I never got on with them but here's an interesting tidbit:

I got a job with a mail hauler, the pay was decent, the work was easy but the trucks were garbage. I got popped with a $2,800 equipment ticket and decided to GTFO and go elsewhere.

Here's where it gets interesting, while I was hauling mail out of the Reading Terminal I met a B-truck driver who worked for both the post office AND Clover Farms.

I can't remember all the details of the conversation, but I remember walking away from the guy thinking, "how good can the job be that he's gotta moonlight?"

And yes they're almost always hiring. Even though it seems like they never follow up with applicants.

Go for it, but keep looking while you wait for a response. You might find something else quicker.

And if you do get on, get back to us please? The next guy to look into this place will appreciate the info.

From what I heard, Clover Farms is Union, but that's about all I know about them.

There's plenty of other Milk Haulers around in the NE. Dean Foods (Lehigh Valley, Dairy Pure, Tuscan) and HP Hood (Balford, Crowley, Penn Maid, Rosenberger) are the biggest and they're all pretty much Union as well.

@Blackshack46 I don't know if Bethlehem is too far away from you, but Dean Foods had a tanker position available a couple months ago. Paid about $25 an hour, which is kinda weird because Lehigh Valley pays around $18 for Tanker.

I don't know if you wanna give up tankers, but Grocery Haulers in Brenigsville pulls for Bimbo Bakeries. You can make over $300 a day there. They use to be Union, but not anymore. So they have a 401k instead of a pension and I'm not sure if the benefits are free like the Union guys have.

Im really all over the place, my current situation is stable and pays well, but its boring anymore. Just d/h all night 5 nights a week. Driving 400 miles a shift. Id like to get into something that requires work to say the least. I miss actually working.

On one side of the spectrum im thinking about following my father in law, being a lineman. The other side im thinking about tankers. The middle consists of road construction, rental heavy equipment delivery, and a bunch of different lines of work.

So to say that i know what i want is far from the truth.

I do keep falling back into thinking about tanks though, fuel/propane delivery. But im open to most options. As long as its home daily, local work.

I dont plan on getting serious for a couple months yet. We'll be moving 12 miles away from our current posistion and itll put me in the middle of a lot more options between Reading and Allentown.

I will say though, if its a box, requires door swinging and bumping docks and no touch frieght.... Im very bored of that work.

Allentown's a really good area for local work. Lots of options up there. There's plenty of LTL Carriers and Food Companies like Nestle, Bimbo Bakeries, Dean Foods, etc, etc.

@rabbiporkchop is a Union Driver for Grocery Haulers. Brenigsville is Non Union and from what I heard, some physical labor is involved. So it wouldn't be ALL drop and hook like the Union guys do. And the Union Drivers were former Stroehman Drivers before Grocery Haulers took over. But you can definitely make REALLY good money there. Lehigh Valley has Delivery Driver positions too and they also make REALLY good money. Better than tankers, but the physical labor involved may be even worse than foodservice though.
