It does have a heim joint adjustment we turned it (down) towards the firewall and the pedal got worse, so if we go the other way would that throw off the clutch adjustment down below? Think we did try to adjust it the other way (up) towards the front of the truck but ran out of threads can't remember.
Going to try a heavier spring and see what happens.
Clutch pedal stays about 2" down from the top

im thinking your supposed to have a return spring on the pedal itself that is probably missing or broken. im not that familiar with sterling's though.
Rideandrepair, AModelCat and jamespmack Thank this. -
Nope has a return spring even shorten the spring alittle with no difference.
Rideandrepair Thanks this. -
Ok sprayed clutch linkages clutch comes all the way up MOST of the time, but when you rest your foot on clutch pedal it goes down about 2" (free play) Why? Thanks. Again Eaton Fuller 10 speed.
Rideandrepair Thanks this. -
Normal freeplay1”- 2” did you adjust rod back to where you started if not you need to first adjust clutch then adjust linkage.
-
Yep clutch rod is back to where it was,and clutch is adjusted. Just don't get it.
Rideandrepair Thanks this. -
You should be good to go . Wouldn’t hurt to spray it now and then Adjust again in 6 mo or ? Whenever. As long as it’s B4 your out of free play. Without free play it will slip and burn up. Free play just keeps release pressure off clutch keeping it engaged
-
I probably don’t need to say but Don’t rest foot on pedal while running leads to burning up clutch
snowman_w900 and spsauerland Thank this. -
That's the problem,my driver sometimes keeps his foot on the pedal and the Jake brake won't come on. Why would the pedal go down just by resting your foot on the pedal ? Shouldn't the pedal have more resistance? Thanks.
Rideandrepair Thanks this. -
I've got a bad habit of subconsciously trying to do that; the rest your foot thing.
Need a shock pedal or something.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Try taking one end loose, and see where linkage tries to go; if it's in compression or tension at rest.
Both ends of the rod have locknuts; also one end is left-hand thread. Check to see if threads are equal.
Some adjustments get so out of whack from messin' that you need a complete reset.
Try to get equal amount of thread showing on both Heim ends first, to get you centered again.
You need to feel the slack, good pressure on clutch plate, none on the rod, and bolt it up there.
Then tighten both locknuts. Some, (Most,) have a nut, and also a jam nut, on both ends.
So speaking strictly from the picture posted, the threaded rod end has about an inch of movement,
the same short rod Heim end has 1/2" also, then the bigger rod has 1/2" movement on both ends.
So in total, and it could be more, you got 2 1/2" or more adjustment. Let us know how U make out.Rideandrepair Thanks this.
