We had one like this, it did end up being the cable. The cable would slide nice with no load on it, but once the clutch was connected it would bind up. This truck had a new clutch installed. Release fork and cross shaft was inspected and turned as free as can be. We were stumped and started throwing parts at it and got lucky with the cable.

    SAR Thanks this.

What heavyd says, its common for clutch cables to bind when they have load on them, and are free as without load.

Personally I always try and do the cheapest things first, lets see now a Zert and maybe a tube of molly grease or a clutch cable. You still want to grease the Clutch as I recommended.

I had the same problem on one of my 387's.I took to Peterbilt, and it turned out the clutch lever was bad. They replaced, the clutch lever, and clevis pin. After, that, it was alot easier to press.

Here are the part #'s they replaced.

    CP103 (Clevis Pin)

My 07 the clutch pedal feels like its binding up, ive replaced the cable which fixed the problem for about 2 months and its right back doing the same again. Letting out on the pedal slowly when backing is when its the most noticeable. I was told its the clutch arm under the dash but id like to hear from others if they have had the same trouble before I pull it all apart. Pete dealer says its a real pain. Clutch is fairly new and adjusted properly

Does the 387's clutch come up through the floor like the 379/389's? If it does make sure theres no rocks or dirt in the hole in the floorboard, It will bind up like your saying.
