Clutch R&R questions

I'm impressed with that idea. I've never done a big truck before but have done a hundred automotive one's before. I like the 2 piece clutch brake because you can change it out in like 5 minutes. The solid ones you have to cut out with a torch.

I can't help but wonder is your avatar you that is doing this? I wouldn't think so, but it would be impressive though

 

Do that when hanging the flywheel, a couple of old bolts. Helps a lot.

I could never imagine how many I set on my chest and strong armed in. Only ever had a clutch jack at one shop.

But ill never do one again with out something says my back and neck.

 

LOL, no I wish. She's not afraid to run a jack, and be around for general help though. That's my wife. About to hit the 19 year mark.

 

So she’s only 18? Why you Dirty Dog you!! Lol Just kidding! We’re coming up on 39 yrs together. She barred the Engine over for Me, when I did mine!! She complained “I didn’t sign up for this” Had her bar it around one more time, to recheck the bolts. Lol. I like to hear her complain these days. It’s rare.

 

Reminds me of a joke. If anyone is sensitive, you might want to stop reading right here...it's not a very bad joke, but I know how some people are.

Lol, that’s a good one. My sister always looked about 18 yrs old, even when she was 50. Her husband looked like a bearded old man. He got a lot of dirty looks. Lol.

 

I’m guessing your clutch is the new style, with the intermediate plate already in place, and straps instead of the 3 pins. That’s what mine was. Heavy, but easier installation. No chatter at all while idling. Lots of good tips given. I had a heck of a time with mine. Makes Me really appreciate those who do them all the time. If it hadn’t been for Boxcarkidd talking me through, I’d never got it done. Hopefully I’ll never do another, Lol. Biggest job I’ve ever done. Good Luck, be careful.

 

Yes. It's the Easy Pedal Advantage. When I pulled the old clutch out, it was a genuine Eaton Easy Pedal, but the intermediate plate wasn't fastened to the pressure plate. I'll post a bunch of pictures of the old clutch when it stops raining. Because this truck would make a grinding noise when I pushed in the clutch. If you push it just past disengagement, or push it all the way to the floor, the noise didn't change. Put it in gear, neutral, whatever, no change. But when let off the clutch, the noise would completely go away.

Now I got under there and had my wife push in the clutch, and I freaking swear the input shaft was wobbling, so I figured the pilot bearing was trashed. But just moving the bearing with my finger, it feels great, and honestly the clutch was in pretty darn good shape as well. So now I'm scared I'll put this thing back together and it's still gonna be making this noise!!

So I'll post a bunch of pictures, and you guys can see if there's anything out of the ordinary hopefully.
