I'm about to put my thermostat in, and International gave me this seal. I don't see it in the old stuff. Does it even apply to my engine?

Yes it does. It will be installed in the thermostat housing and seals against the sides of the thermostat. New one will have to get driven in with a large socket or pipe. Old one can get removed with a heel bar. Screenshot_20201122-121803_Chrome.jpg

Oh, I see it now. Looked like part of the housing at first. 16060695298776264017931043045226.jpg
