C'mon drivers! What's the big deal about staying in HOS compliance anyway?

The Teamsters are currently challenging the current HOS. They want the 34 hour restart abolished and there were some other things they're challenging.

Nothing to do with the Teamsters. If I remember right, the main reason was to recognize the 24 hour clock.

The 34 restart is the only good thing about the current HOS.

I agree 100%, and I would also add the additional 1 hr driving time allowed.

all the extra hr does for me is allow for another 60-70 miles to be shown on that day's log.

Or circle the nearest truck stop parking lot 17 times, trying to find a spot to park before I run out of hours!

I like it too. The 14 hour clock is actually nice for what we do but I could see it would be a giant pain in the arse for OTR drivers.

Keep the 34 restart, bring back the split sleeper, the old way...I kinda liked being able to take a nap in the middle.....oh yes toss the.....Better yet, go back to the old way with the 34 restart as a bonus!

I liked the 2004 rule, I didn't run before that.

I think the split was too hard for most in enforcement to figure out as the main reason it was changed to what it is now.

What we have now isn't nearly as helpful to work with as far as awkward situations and runs. It also makes running a long shift that is legal more difficult when dealing with problems.

I would be cool with a 24 hour restart, that way you dont have to mess up your internal clock when your ready to go. It dont really affect me much now days but a nice snooze mid day was always nice.

    JustSonny and otherhalftw Thank this.
