The Teamsters are currently challenging the current HOS. They want the 34 hour restart abolished and there were some other things they're challenging.
Nothing to do with the Teamsters. If I remember right, the main reason was to recognize the 24 hour clock.

all the extra hr does for me is allow for another 60-70 miles to be shown on that day's log.

Keep the 34 restart, bring back the split sleeper, the old way...I kinda liked being able to take a nap in the middle.....oh yes toss the.....Better yet, go back to the old way with the 34 restart as a bonus!

I liked the 2004 rule, I didn't run before that.
I think the split was too hard for most in enforcement to figure out as the main reason it was changed to what it is now.
What we have now isn't nearly as helpful to work with as far as awkward situations and runs. It also makes running a long shift that is legal more difficult when dealing with problems.JustSonny Thanks this. -
