Well I missed the Bullet again. I was called into the Main terminal to get a spanking or fired. I got spanked... The KGB Log dept did not like my logs..

there is no independance in being an owner operator with big companies anymore. they have done everything they can to make sure there is also no profit.
the old timers wouldn't even recognize the current owner operator invironment as anything close to being an owner operator. they only way to be free and happy is to get away from any company of any considerable size.

Couldn't agree more MM. In the 1980's I was paid .84p/mile lded and .65p/mile empty. Don't see much difference today except for the price of fuel. Today the companies pay .90p/mile lded and empty, but fuel is $2.67 a gallon. The thing I notice though is how the companies want to run an O/O like they do the company trucks. O/O's are NOT company trucks. I got away from the big companies in the late 80's and started looking for smaller regional companies. For the most part companies that only ran 25-30 states and stayed away from the East because of Tolls, high fuel, etc etc. Best move I ever made. I don't understand today why everyone seems to think they have to lease to a BIG company. The last company I was leased to ran 26 states and I consistently ran 2400-2700 miles a week and home most weekends. I don't know how to do it but maybe there needs to be a area on here for regional companies so O/O' would have some more options. There are some good ones out there. JMO

Well that is my goal to go fully independent, But since I had not found a tree that grows money I have to raise my operating funds somewhere.

USA is only a stepping stone, always been, and the recruiters even told some of the new hires that....

    The Challenger Thanks this.

Sorry to hear about your misfortunes Coastie. Did you get a positive response on any other companies you were looking into?

No good luck in that way. One I need to own my own trailer, and the other not hiring due to low amount of freight. USA has picked up some and looking brighter in the last 2 weeks.

Well I finally found a place where I could not back into. I could get the trailer pointed to the dock, but a Brick wall blocked me from getting it further. USA had to send a Company truck to back it in, shorter wheelbase, and tighter turning rate. But that wasn't only problem I had at that customer. Shortly after they started to unload me, the Manger came out nearly in tears, to tell me he busted a hole in the roof.
