Thanks Ron. I am but not. The loads I gotten been decent paying loads, but short so not much there. 1.74 and 2.96 per mile loads. Last load the 2.96 took 3 days to go 180 miles but the hold up was the permits and when I got them all I could do was go park again.

No not really but the time wasted waiting for the permits worst part. Made the good paying load turn to be bad. Now I am sitting for the weekend.

Thank you for all of your help.

I made a joke out of it. I had a John Deer 120 C Excavator and a mini Bobcat Excavator. It looked as the John Deer had a baby Bobcat from the 2 different sizes and how they were loaded.

    The Challenger Thanks this.

WV has 24 hour a day service on standard issue permits online, you get them back instantly.
Some permit services won't use WV's automated system. Comdata is one that won't use it.

    O/M
I use a Mom and Pop outfit for the ones I don't want to deal with or don't have time to.
Thanks for the heads up on the online deal with WV .I'm gonna give them a try .I just never had any luck with the folks that were on the phones in WV. Can you say slow and about as smart as a box of rocks?:biggrin_25510:

Thats why some permit services won't use it, they don't want to help the competition.
Having a good permit service is key part of moving oversize loads quickly. I have found a very permit service, and deal with just one person. No I won't give her name, I don't want her to get overloaded.

Coastie, always read all of your permit, some don't print all their rules, you can usually fine each states provisions on line at the state web site.Always check lic plate and serial numbers on the permit, in Georgia always go behind the scale no mater what the lights and arrows say, always no matter what. They will check your tag numbers and they always know what time sunset is.

AHHHH Come on share be a sport..... (j/k) hahahahah

I carried a load from NC to upstate NY. The delivery went down with a weather cause problem. My red line snapped in half. Lucky the driver whom loaded with me in NC was at the same T/S as I and he parked the trailer for me as I went to another T/S to get another hose, which the small fuel stop we parked at did not have them. I had to go north 30 miles to the nest T/S and get a new hose and made the repairs, and go back and get my trailer to make the delivery. When I arrived at the receiver the other driver was being unloaded and was finished in the time it took me to unstrap my load.

I was not expecting to be reloaded as fast as I was, so Iwent back to the larger T/S but only had time to set my brakes and was offered another load assignment. Good paying? NO, but getting me back south.

I am planning on putting another driver in the truck, whom can tarp loads which I would have a hard time doing so. This will open up more loads for my Truck and will be making more money for less sitting time. I could switch to a Van but fuel usage difference and the past history pulling vans with this truck. I wil though get a second truck and pull Vans my self. I do have a list of drivers who wants to work for me. I am being told I am working yet once you get a truck for them to drive they would leave the company they are working for in a heart beat.

I am happy with GreatWide Cheetah, so I am going to be hoping everything works out. Even when I get my own authority, and dispatching my own loads, I plan on keeping up to 5 trucks on with them (providing I am making money) so I do not have all my eggs in one basket.

Well when all else can go wrong is It Does...

Last night I broke down going through Virginia detour and got a ear full for it
Sheriff Department mad cause trucks on HYW 11, State Patrol pissed off cause of Drivers Attitudes, and I was freezing. 9:30 PM I broke down in the middle of the road truck just stopped. (Fuel Jelled) State Trooper did not believe it. But did wait till about 15 minutes prior to the tow truck arrival. Tow Truck arrived 5 hours after they were called.

The towing Company only would take me to a place they could get me out of the road. Inn next door was full, and no other services around. Freezing already and no place to get warm.

This AM, Whites Truck Stop refuses to send help, Lee Hi Had nobody in to send, and seen a T/A Road squad truck, He said he will try to come and help.

Where the towing company dropped me the owner yelling at me to get out. Dang I am beginning to hate Virginia...

WARNING WARNING WARNING.. Statement from the Trooper, Once roads are dry it OPEN SEASON ON TRUCKERS!!!!!!
