I ordered one last night...for $96 I thought it would likely be worth it.

I didn't really need one that big, all I run is a laptop, phone charger, bluetooth head set charger, and later a TV.

I bought one of those yellow and black ones that loves sells (forgot the new name on them, but they are made by/for RoadPro) but took it back when I found out they are RoadPro (cheap, made in China crap...mostly).

The one I ordered is new in the box, but it is an overstock item. Its not the very latest model (mine has 2 cooling fans, the new ones only have 1 fan).

As far as installing it...Maverick does that for me (for the low, low price of $250)...that is the only way they will allow inverters in their trucks. They do use good quality cables though...

    Anyway...are these decent inverters???

yes. the cobra inverters are good inverters. i have a road pro 1500 watt and i wired mine in myself with no problems when i drove. i wired mine in a pete 387. but when i got a 386 then i used the 450 watt cobra and it did a much better job than the 450 watt cheap model. as long as the right size wire is used to connect to the batteries you should not have a problem

    Ridgerunner665 Thanks this.

I heard one of the chrome shop mafia guys say in an interview on Sirius that the cobra inverters are the only ones they use when customizing trucks. Said they are cheap and a good value. They have never had a problem with one.

I don't know. I only use a small one to run my laptop that plugs into the dc outlets in the truck. Probably nothing. Just ask the shop guys to do it. Lots of drivers have them for fridges. They have the shop take out the passenger seat to fit them into those small sleepers,

I've always run either Freightshakers or KW day cabs so I dont really know about the space in the Internationals...cant be much smaller than a FL

I am heading that way myself in a few minutes. Load to San Antonio is supposed to be ready around noon. Let me know what the official policy is.

Will do, the companys I've worked for usually wanted something just to cover any electrical repairs or just to get you to work half a day for nothin.

That's what I figured. The shop guys are pretty good. Installed my CB and an aftermarket stereo at no charge. High Point is a good terminal and that makes a difference at Superior. Kentucky24 posted a couple of weeks ago that inverters weren't allowed per new company policy. I have read about several "company policy" cutbacks on message boards that don't seem to apply to us. I think the less profitable terminals are forced to cut expenses and that's how those TM's do it. No more hotels for resets, blue beacons, inverters etc.

    Sorry about the thread highjack
