I have searched everywhere for info about this switch with zero results online. The switch is completely worn out and just flops around. I can't find any info about how to replace it or where to buy it but would be happy just bypassing it if possible if I knew which wires to cut and connect.

Potientiometers and Rheostats (Variable Resistors) at Ken's Electronics, Kalamazoo, Michigan
This site came up in a random search so I havent a clue about their reliabiltyKrimbo Thanks this. -
Ken won't have it, I can't see it wearing out but hell anything is possible.
OK it is a three position double pole slide switch, I most likely have 20 of them somewhere (maybe in storage with all the other crap).
There are a couple places to get it, one is Mouser/Digikey - they are about $2 each.
I don't remember if the switch is soldered to a board or not but Mouser has one that may work - 642-MHS233K is their part number. They only have 880 in stock so ...
Another place is Cobra as a replacement part.
and a third is to find someone who scraps out radios and has a few from older radios.Krimbo Thanks this. -
That is really strange for that switch to be worn out. It has 2 little screws holding it to the frame behind the face plate. Have you checked to make sure those screws are tight?
-
The problem is that the switch won't stay in one position and it's screwing up normal talking operation. There is no tension to keep it from moving around. I think I'm just gonna get a wiring diagram and bypass it.
-
But it shouldn't screw up anything, it is there just for the meter on transmit.
-
It wouldn't stop transmission if the switch dropped into cal or swr mode?
-
no, just make the meter act weird.
I would just jam a piece of paper or something into the slot with it I think all the way up and leave it there until you get around to getting it fixed. -
Ok thanks. It's just an old radio I got for free anyway.
