cobra 29ltd classic power cord

    I have a cobra 29 classic need to make a new power cord on the back of the radio there is a three prong plug on the left is pos+ on the right is neg- what is the center prong for. any info is welcome.

    nothing...Some radios have a third wire which would be wired to a hot wire, that either stays hot all the time or is only hot when the Key is turned on. So the plugs are sorta like a "One size fits all" type deal...

    sweet thank you I thought it might be for memory but then it not like it has to store anything lol.

    Its there to keep you from putting the plug in backwards. You can buy that cord at any truckstop or cb hack shop...

    I seem to recall the plug casing has a distinct shape to prevent you from plugging in another way.
