I've recently tried out a Tom Tom , rand McNally and a Garmin haven't found what I'm looking for yet. Has anyone tried this new cobra GPS?

The Cobra GPS isn't new. They were around years ago when I got my first RM 510.
I've never used the Cobra, so I'll be watching the replies. I'm curious as well.

PFJ has quit selling them after promoting them and having a good rebate amount which ended the first of May, I think.

I tried the 7" cobra after fighting with my first rm710.

Routing was screwy, a good bit of the time it showed addresses of customers as invalid/non-existent, POI's were cumbersome to try to navigate and generally was not easy to use on the fly.

Screen resolution and junction views were good, quick loading and did not get the freeze issues common with the rand. Power connector was a plug in pin type that was MUCH more durable than the mini USB on the rand with none of those connection issues. Solid construction and hardware. Software left a little to be desired.

Ended up going back to the rand. For all it's quirks it's much easier to use on the fly and find POI's and end of day parking options than the cobra. Just my opinion having put about 50k miles on the 7" cobra before selling it.

Google maps on my phone works for me. It gives you alternate routes, traffic conditions, satellite and street view. I found that it works better than garmin and tom tom for me.

Yeah I agree but it burns up all my data.

What I do is get as close as you can to your destination and use google maps from there if you don't have unlimited minutes. I use to work for UPS Freight and I noticed that google maps helped me a lot more than any other GPS out there.

It's great for up to date maps and free traffic data but will also send you via no truck routes, low clearance areas and residential neighborhoods.
