Cobra Inverter Remote

Does anyone have a cobra inverter with a remote? I think the option would be cool however the switch for $30 is a bit overpriced. The port on the inverter is an 8 pin ethernet (RJ45) but the switch plug on the online photos look like an old phone plug style (RJ11/14). If it’s an old school style switch like a telephone it only uses the middle two pins and an regular phone cord could be used to create the switch just by shorting the connections (aka like a phone off the hook). Even an Ethernet cord could be used it just uses the middle two pins (1/2 or blue/blue-white wires). Wondering if anyone has tested this? I have some extra wiring would be nice to use instead of buying a $30 switch. Sorry Cobra...
