Hello drivers, I have an interview on Tuesday with Coca Cola Refreshments in San Diego. I'll be asking these questions in the interview but I figured I'd ask if there are any drivers here who may work or have worked at Coke. I applied online for an on-call class A driver position. I received a phone call where the girl asked me a few questions about my background and what the job entails, she likes my answers and set me up for an interview.
Now for the questions. Like I said the position is on-call but it's a foot in the door, do they call you the night before or early morning if they need a driver? I'd be commuting so I would need to know a decent of time before hand. Being on-call how many hours can be expected in a week? Do they work weekends? Any other advice during the interview I should know?
My understanding from talking to the girl on the phone is that most deliveries are made to grocery stores, where else might they deliver? What type of radius from the distribution center can once expect to make deliveries? I know the drivers do all the unloading themselves and there is hard work involved, that's fine with me.
Do drivers usually pull normal trailers or those side loader ones you see delivering to convenience stores and gas stations?
How about Coca Cola as a company. Are the drivers taken care of pretty well? Are the drivers union or nonunion? Do drivers usually stick around for a long time?
I know I've asked a lot of question but I appreciate any help I can get. Thank you for your time.

Is that their official name ? "Coca Cola refreshments". Not, Coca Cola bottling co ? On call means you get a phone call or notice to work the day before, probably late afternoon. However, someone calling in sick at the last moment could mean a last minute call. The San Diego location could go as far as Imperial county line, but I'm sure you'd only be gone for the day at most, not overnight. Expect a career there if you can handle the politics. People will always drink Cokes. Dentist's love them !
Bonchez Thanks this. -
Thanks for the reply. Yes, they are Coca Cola Refreshments, I guess that's more the supply chain end of Coke. Here is a link to the job posting: http://www.enjoycareers.com/en/jobs...go-on-call-san-diego-california-job-1-4306965. At the bottom of the page and the homepage it says "Coca-Cola Refreshments"

Yeah, merchandiser, you deliver to grocery stores. Palletized. Dock. pallet jack. Aisle deliveries, rotate stock, set up displays etc. Ever notice those big soft drink displays when you walk in or end of aisles ? Especially close to super bowl time and 4th of July etc.
